Senior Research Associate, Intelligent Systems Division

Matthew Vondal is a senior research associate with the NSI at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has led research and development efforts supporting many elements of the intelligence and defense communities for over fifteen years.

His research interests include machine learning for communications, signal processing and intelligence, and satellite communications. Among his recent technical publications is work in robust signal classification, deep learning for modulation recognition, and radio frequency signal machine learning methods.

At Virginia Tech he teaches coursework in communications, as well as navigation, timing, and positioning technologies. Vondal is presently principal investigator for several programs at the NSI, including research sponsored by DARPA, ONR, and IC sponsors.
