Research Assistant Professor
Dr. Madison Young is a Research Assistant Professor in the Spectrum Dominance Division at the Virginia Tech National Security Institute. She has six years of experience as a Lead Optical Engineer at L3Harris in the Photonics Department and has recently worked as an EO/IR Analyst at CACI. Her research background includes optical sensing and biomedical optics. Currently, she is focused on leveraging her expertise to develop optical-based biosensors for both defense applications and personal health monitoring. Dr. Young holds a Ph.D. in Optical Science and Engineering, as well as an M.S. and B.S. in Physics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
