Lauren McIver returns to Virginia Tech after serving 10+ years at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health as a senior software developer, leading initiatives in multi-omics research, and as the Associate Director of Engineering of the Harvard Chan Microbiome in Public Health Center. She began her professional journey at Honeywell before moving to Sandia National Laboratories, working in a variety of languages from Ada to Fortran77. After transitioning to academia, Lauren joined Virginia Tech, focusing on software development for human genetics research. With a BS in Computer Science and an MS in Applied Mathematics from The University of New Mexico, she has developed expertise in areas such as high-performance computing, big data, and software engineering.
