Jordan Chapman is a computational materials scientist whose research interests span first principles and atomistic investigations of solid-state materials and nanomaterials. He graduated from West Virginia University in 2022 with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. There, he did his graduate work in the design and rational tailoring biomaterial-nanomaterial interfaces for applications like benign transformation of greenhouse gases and membrane-based gas separations. Prior to coming to NSI, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Energy Technology Laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA, where he did first principles simulations on perovskite oxide materials to be used as high-temperature gas sensors. At NSI, he works in with Seva Ivanov the Quantum Systems group as a postdoctoral associate. His current research has a particular emphasis on the identification of solid-state point defects that are exploitable for applications in quantum information sciences. |
