Research Data Analyst
Mary Nerayo is a Research Data Analyst in the Intelligent Systems Division of the Virginia Tech National Security Institute.
Her work focuses on modeling end-to-end workflows, analyzing messy operational data, and developing decision-support analyses for socio-technical systems in which artificial intelligence and human judgment interact. She has experience applying interpretable machine learning models, performing error and trade-off analysis, and evaluating AI systems beyond accuracy in operational contexts. Her technical interests include systems dynamics, data-driven decision support, human-in-the-loop AI, performance evaluation and monitoring of AI systems, and the design and assessment of AI-enabled workflows grounded in real-world implementation.
Nerayo received a B.S. in Business Information Technology from Virginia Tech and is pursuing a M.S. in Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech.
