Alan Michaels is a professor in the Bradley Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and director of the Spectrum Dominance Division, where he leads research and workforce development in digital communications, SIGINT, RF machine learning, electronic warfare, quantum algorithms, and automotive cybersecurity applications. He is also an affiliate professor in the Department of Mathematics. Previously he served 10 years with the Harris Corporation as a senior engineering manager, an advanced program lead for R&D technology, and a systems engineer.
Michaels earned a B.S., M.S., and a Ph.D in electrical and computer engineering, a B.S. and M.S. in applied mathematics, an M.S. in operations research from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.
Through his career, he has led 160 research projects worth more than $171M, earned 44 U.S. patents, and written more than 80 peer reviewed publications. Alan was recently elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.
