Justin Kauffman is a research assistant professor in the Intelligent Systems Division in the National Security Institute.
Before joining Virginia Tech, he was a Mathematician in the High Performance Computing and Visualization Group under the Applied and Computational Mathematics Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Dr. Kauffman’s dissertation work focused on developing an overset mesh framework for the hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin finite element method. His M.S. work focused on developing mathematical models of brain and cerebrospinal fluid dynamics with application to hydrocephalus.
Kauffman has a Ph.D in enginering science and mechanics from The Pennsylvania State University, a M.S. in engineering science and mechanics from The Pennsylvania State University, a B.S. in engineering science from The Pennsylvania State University, and a B.S. in mathematics from The Pennsylvania State University.
